Taking a long-long weekend for Australia Day, joined by great friends, we spent five days in the Hunter Valley NSW. Surrounded by farms and wineries too numerous to count, we stayed in a little cottage amongst the olive trees at Pukara Estate—an olive grove that grows and produces its own Australian extra virgin olive oil, as well as balsamic vinegars, dukkahs, smoked salts, and many other gourmet goodies.
We visited wineries including Tamburlaine, Krinklewood, Moorebank, Calais Estate, plus we had one of the best meals we’ve ever had at the spectacular Margan restaurant and winery (pictured below). Then on the second last day we took the rental car on a bit of an off-road expedition up to Barrington Tops, where we got many of the spectacular hinterland and panorama shots.
These photos are some of my favourites from the trip, taken using both our compact Nikon and iPhones.
